Obsessed with Glossier

A New York based start-up, Glossier launched a small edit of skincare products back in 2014. I didn’t discover them until last year. I came across an Instagram photo that was captioned with the phrase “Skincare first, make up second”. This has always been my own philosophy of sorts and by the time I had read every single product description on their website I had to try everything.

My collection and impressions so far:

Skincare

Soothing Face Mist: A Rosewater Spray

Spraying my face with water has taken some getting used to but I can’t imagine going a day without this refreshing and lovely smelling mist now. I had used toners with cotton rounds for years but I always found myself scrubbing… I’m just like that but skin doesn’t like scrubbing.

It’s also excellent as a makeup refresher and midday pick-me-up.

Super Pure– A Niacinamide face serum.

This is a wonderful, non-irritating serum that calms redness and breakouts. It absorbs much more quickly than The Ordinary’s Niacinamide serum and doesn’t have that sticky feel afterwards. I typically only remember to use this one when my skin is stressed and it’s like a little bottle of miracles every time I need it.

Super Glow– A Vitamin C serum

We’re all friends here so I can totally admit that I was drawn to this bottle like a moth to a flame. It’s such a beautiful bottle. Frosted glass bottle with an eye dropper suspended in a glowy, orange haze of promises of bright, energized skin. Glossier keeps their promises. This absorbs quickly and it’s slight tackiness is whisked away with the priming moisturizer. I’ve noticed a significant reduction in melasma tone with long term use. I have used many Vitamin C serums throughout my beauty junkie years and this is the only one I’ve come across that doesn’t sting.

Mega Greens Galaxy Pack– A deep cleansing face mask

Made with simple, natural ingredients, the Mega Greens Galaxy Pack balances and deep cleans pores. It’s made with a Superfruit Antioxidant Blend )to protect against skin damage) and the most gentle white kaolin clay. This cleansing face mask detoxifies by drawing out excess oil and impurities.

Moisturizing Moon Mask– moisturizing face mask

This mask is brilliant for stressed skin. Licorice Root and Lemon Extracts brighten and help to even out skin tone and Shea butter, plant-derived squalane, and sweet almond and soybean oils are superb moisturizers.

I love this mask following any clay mask, especially Galaxy Greens!

Solution -A daily face exfoliator

Solution gently sloughs dead cells away through chemical exfoliation, ungluing the problematic dead cells hiding and clogging healthy skin beneath. Solution contains a particular 10% blend of three acid groups: Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA), Beta Hydroxy Acid (BHA), and Polyhydroxy Acid (PHA).

Once a day after cleansing, press cotton pad on top of dispenser and pump down to saturate. Sweep pad across face and neck. Allow a moment for Solution to absorb into skin. Follow with moisturizer and daily sunscreen.

With daily use, expect acne and blackheads to clear up, pores to shrink and reduced redness overall. Skin’s texture will be smoother and softer, and the fabled glow of balanced, healthy skin will be in full force.

Milky Jelly Cleanser-A conditioning facial cleanser

The pH-balanced, creamy gel formula is made with a blend of five skin conditioners so your face is left feeling healthy and soft, never tight. Its cleansing power comes from the same gentle cleaning agents found in contact lens solution, so it’s tough on impurities and still safe to use on your eyes. Since still have to use an oil balm for long wear or waterproof make up removal, I only use this cleanser in the morning.

Priming Moisturizer– A daily face moisturizer.

The anti-redness complex soothes and evens skin tone, leaving a clean, dewy, balanced finish. This comforting cream allows you to layer and build up to the perfect amount of moisture depending on climate, season, or how your skin’s feeling on any given day. It’s The best base for the Perfecting Skin Tint.

Body Hero Daily Oil Wash-An oil body wash.

Soapy body washes strip and disrupt your skin’s top layer. Daily Oil Wash turns from oil to froth and provides a better clean than typical body cleansers, while hydrating skin—not stripping it.because it’s made with 0% water, it won’t affect the pH anywhere on your body. Skin is left visibly softer & supremely clean. I wish so much that this product was available in a different fragrance. I’m not a fan of its fragrance in the slightest. It’s smells quite strongly of jasmine but it’s such a wonderful body wash otherwise.

Body Hero Daily Perfecting Cream-A body moisturizer

Body Hero contains AHAS for gentle exfoliation and antioxidants for prolonged moisture. It absorbs quickly and actually does brighten my skin. The fragrance in the cream is similar to the shower oil but not nearly as potent and a bit more fresh smelling. I don’t mind the fragrance of the cream as much but I do wish that I could choose another.

Balm Dotcom-An all-purpose skin and lip balm.

A hydrating, long-lasting, multipurpose lip balm and skin salve that’s packed with antioxidants and natural emollients to nourish and repair dry, chafed skin. The dense, waxy texture stays in place to seal in moisture wherever it goes for long-lasting hydration and an ultra dewy sheen.

I honestly need every single one of these.

Makeup

Lash Slick– A Lengthening Mascara

It doesn’t flake, it doesn’t smudge and And it’s water-resistant (not waterproof), so Lash Slick washes off easy with warm water at the end of the day.

Cloud Paint –A natural-looking blush in six shades

If you can finger paint, you can Cloud Paint—simply dab it onto cheeks wherever you please. It’s seamless, sheer, and buildable (i.e. it’s hard to accidentally apply too much). Inspired by gradient pink NYC sunsets, the shades are optimized to work across a wide range of skin tones for a healthy, flushed-from-within glow. I currently use Puff & Haze. Storm ( a warm rose) & Dawn (a sunny coral) are new shades that I cannot wait to try.

Boy Brow- An eyebrow filler and shaper.

THE brow product: one to thicken, fill in, and groom brows into place. It’s a creamy wax formula is inspired by traditional hair pomade for soft, flexible hold that doesn’t stiffen or flake. Comes in four shades: Blond, Brown, and Black boost brows with an oomph of color, while Clear gives you the same soft, conditioning hold minus the pigment.

It also contains a collagen derivative that helps condition and strengthen brow hair.

Perfecting Skin Tint-A skin tint with light coverage.

In the land between bare skin and makeup makeup exists the imperceptible wash of color that is the Perfecting Skin Tint. It evens out my skin and imparts a nice glow. I’ll admit that I reach for full coverage foundations regularly but this product has been such a welcome change. It took me a couple applications to get onto it- it’s really unlike anything I’ve tried out before.

Perfecting Skin Tint evens out discoloration and leaves my face looking toned, smooth, and dewy. It will not hide your freckles, spackle your pores, or erase any other evidence that you are, in fact, a real human being. Just a tip: if a matte finish is what you’re after, lightly dust with translucent powder.

Stretch Concealer-A concealer with flexible, buildable coverage

This little pot has been tricky for me as well and I can’t get away without setting lightly it with powder. It seems to apply best for me after warming on the back of my hand and fingers work better than brushes. Definitely use the concealer over the skin tint and dab to blend. Overall I’ve been happy with the Stretch Concealer but it absolutely does not cover any of my hyper-pigmentation or allergy eye darkness.

Lip Gloss- glimmering, glassy shine

This is, I think the only product by Glossier that I’ve come across that just isn’t exactly as described. It’s just as sticky as all lip glosses are. It reminds me of the MAC Lip Glass that was extra popular in the 90’s, circa Britney Spears at any MTV awards show. I was honestly a little doubtful that this gloss would look as glassy as it does in photos, but it absolutely does! I definitely found it to last longer than most, leave my lips feeling moisturized and I love the 90s vibe.
